The Cure: Google it, Try it, Buy it or Leave it!!!

20130131-125054.jpg

The most important advice I share with clients is to shop smart! You will save money and precious time by figuring out what you really want from a product and how to get in the most cost effective way possible! Start with a little research!!! Maybe you’ve been wanting a new lipstick and you just received an email from MAC about their new Viva Glam lipstick and gloss!!! Or you have always wanted a huge leather Coach purse like your friends have!!! And you could possible want to try the new pixie look like a lot of Hollywood celebs! Whatever it is!! Use Google’s search engine to search for exactly what you want. That way when you start your search you can just whip out a picture and say it want that. Search and save a few pictures of other options that you would like just in case what you really want isn’t available or not right for you! If you have a smartphone you can even label a photo album folder as “shopping” so that you can go right to your pictures!

After you have done a little research on what you want its time to figure out if its right for you. If you are trying on makeup, make sure you leave with a fresh clean, moisturized face. You want whatever product you use on your face to show as it would when you put it on from home. For lipstick its important to use a lip scrub to remove any dead skin that would effect the look after application. Use a balm on your way to the store to insure you have a little moisture treatment as trying on lipstick will dry your lips! If you are looking for a new purse, don’t be afraid to try it on and even remove some of your items and place them in the display purse. A purse above all else should be functional! For clothes bring your control undergarments with you so that you can get a true sense of what you will look like in your clothes.

Now it’s time to figure out whether to buy it or leave it!!! Go back to the pictures that you saved in your smartphone! Did you go off track a little or did you pick up extra items!! Aim for the item that you came to purchase. When you were at home, you chose the picture you did for a reason. Maybe you shoes for the dress you chose. Or maybe all your lipsticks are too dark and you need a lighter one! Maybe your purse is falling apart and you want something different than what you have. As shoppers we tend to pick up and grab things we already have out of habit. It’s easier to get out of your comfort zone if you see that what you have isn’t going to do the trick!! If you have looked and you haven’t found what you are looking, leave what you have. Save your money for what you really want!

Trends 2013: InStyle January Issue

20130130-230256.jpg

Eyes: Vibrant Blue Eyes
Blue eyeshadow has been frequented because most woman can wear it and its great day or night for work or play!!! If you want a more subtle and clean look choose a matte blue or a light blue with little to no shimmer. Shade in blue eyeshadow from lash to crease with a rounded brush. Use a blender brush to blend color into the crease! To open eyes add either light frosty pink or silver to the inner corner of the eye and blend lightly. This trend can definitely last well into the summer. For a clean look I suggest a semi nude lipstick or gloss!

Nails: Opaque White Nails
Spring is back and so are white manicures! I think that’s about it. But a great tip in this issue discussed the fact that rounded nails look softer than the bold square nail!

Accessory: Head Scarves
The 1960’s boho-chic look is back! Pull hair into an untidy bun or ponytail and wrap a light frabic around your head. This style never goes out of style especially in southern states where it’s extremely humid and hot! To save a little money visit a fabric stores’ clearance section and choose your own colors and patterns to form your new head scarf. Choose prints that are primarily brown, red, black, green or yellow! This will ensure that your head scarf will match most items in your wardrobe!

Hair: Updo Knots and Loops
Grab your favorite mousse or hardening spray because this style requires a bit of product muscle to stay put. The style is in keeping with the crisp clean look for the spring season. It is well suited for work or a cocktail party! It’s not practical for everyday so only work this look for special occasions!!!

Lips: Electric Red
This red is unlike the deep, rich red from fall. It’s bright and has more orange undertones instead brown or violet. It’s sassy to say the least and is sure to turn heads. Make sure to lightly fill eyebrows to add a little depth to the electric red lip! If this look isn’t going to be worn daily, purchase a lip pencil in the shade that you love. It’s a cheaper way to “sassy up” your make up bag!

Product Review: Vitamin C Brightening Serum

Peter Thomas Roth: Vitamin C Brightening Serum

This product claims to:
*improve college
*brighten
*smooth
*firm
*revitalize
*improves the appearance of fine lines, skin tone and wrinkles

The amazonian Camu Camu berry has 30 times the vitamin C of an orange. This highly concentrated vitamin C has superior absorption properties due to its low molecular weight allowing it to better penetrate the skin, help boost collagen production, brighten, smooth, firm, and improve the appearance of uneven skin tone, fine lines and wrinkles. Powerful antioxidant Camu Camu with vitamins A, D & E also helps revitalize the look of skin while helping to fight free radical attack.

Personal Testimony

This product has made my combination skin feel more soft and supple. My skin also appears more even. The serum is very thin and absorbs into the skin very quickly. It is more pricey than most serums that I had tested but its worth it!!! I saw results within two weeks!

Trends 2013: Bangs VS Middle Part

Bangs

Bangs are so awesome!!! The style looks great on almost any face shape and can be managed in the comfort of your own home. Bangs are like an accessory and can disguise a large forehead, ill timed pimple, and give a little extra to a simple ponytail!! Just make sure that your bands aren’t too short and frame your face just right!!! They are uniquely feminine and extremely fun to try!!!

Middle Parts

A middle part is about letting it all hang out! Every detail is exposed and nothing is left to the imagination! It looks great long and layered. This style, though, has to be tailored to the shape of your face. For example, a person with a very round face wouldn’t want a middle part for hair this is long and straight! Now a short bob with a middle part would look awesome!!! However your face is shaped; just make sure your face is flawless, natural or all dolled up!!!

Trends 2013: Glitter Eyeliner Sephora Collection VS Urban Decay

Sephora Facts:
12 Sensational colors
$13
Duo liner/mascara wand
Longwear
Urban Decay Facts:
10 Awesome colors
$18
Eyeliner wand
Longwear

These two liners are the best in their category for color and staying power! Sephora collection has more colors and the price makes it incredibly hard to ignore! Urban Decay has fewer colors but the range in color makes choosing a perfect shade a little easier! The staying power of both products are parallel and the ease of use are as well! Either of these products would be a great addition to any makeup bag!

Product Review: MAC Candy Yum Yum

Candy Yum Yum

Candy Yum Yum is now a permanent fixture in the lipstick section at MAC! This color resurfaced early fall 2012 and has been very popular to say the least. It has an electric pink appearance that will surely turn heads. Incredibly alarming when it is first applied to your lips. Apply MAC’s Magenta lipliner all over lip then apply Candy Yum Yum. This trick tones down the color and maintains the matte lip texture.

The Cure: A Roadmap

One of most important discoveries I have made is the realization that I lacked organization and structure in relation to my desire to blog or chronicle all things shopper savvy. I’m excellent at finding a great bargin for almost any item but organizing what was needed and how much was another task entirely. Recently I have resolved said task and stumbled upon another grand idea. My passion for both makeup artistry and fashion are so intense that I decided to chronicle my adventures both personal and professional!
